About the role

  • Senior data analyst generating client acquisition insights for Sun Life, a global financial security and health company. Building KPIs, dashboards, forecasts, and automated analytics to improve lead conversion and client growth.

Responsibilities

  • Mine data for business insights and analyze and interpret trends using statistical tools and techniques
  • Report on business performance and triage code- and data-related issues
  • Support client-base growth, advisor lead conversion, the Head Office lead Evolution program, Channel of Choice, KPI monitoring, and Retail Leads Data Modernization
  • Leverage systems across Sun Life, gather requirements, engage subject matter experts, and create reporting
  • Identify complex business problems with business partners and provide data-driven solutions
  • Conduct analytics work from requirements specification and data gathering through analysis and presentations
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on prospect, client, and advisor data
  • Uncover opportunities that drive incremental sales
  • Develop metrics and KPIs to measure analytical and data product performance
  • Support the annual business plan, monthly sales forecast, and insight analysis
  • Operationalize reporting processes and create dashboards to monitor business initiatives and performance
  • Automate reporting, enable self-serve analytics, and promote analytics-driven decision-making

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working with data, including quantitative analysis, data manipulation, hypothesis testing, data modelling, and data visualization
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL, PySpark, and other programming languages
  • Ability to write accurate, efficient, complex SQL queries across multiple database sources
  • 2+ years of experience with AWS Cloud Services, such as Glue, S3, Athena, and Quick Suite
  • 2+ years of experience with Tableau or other visualization tools
  • Experience using oral and written storytelling to communicate data-driven insights clearly and succinctly
  • Strong business-partnering approach
  • Prioritization, planning, and change-management skills
  • Ability to learn new applications and processes quickly with minimal direction
  • Ability to document work
  • Understanding of predictive and prescriptive techniques, such as regression, decision trees, and forecasting
  • Experience with Salesforce
  • MSc preferably in a statistical, mathematical, or technical field
  • Additional statistical programming languages, such as SAS/R
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Access
  • Must satisfactorily complete Reliability Security Clearance and applicable background checks, including a law enforcement inquiry and credit check
  • Must account for activities if lived or travelled outside Canada for six consecutive months during the last five years
