About the role

  • Project Manager leading strategic business initiatives for Symbiotic Digital, a Canadian IT consulting and recruitment provider. Managing delivery, governance, stakeholders, risks, and Agile or hybrid workstreams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead one or more projects through all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring delivery of scope, schedule, budget, quality, and business outcomes
  • Lead discovery, planning, and requirements-gathering activities to establish business objectives, scope boundaries, success measures, assumptions, constraints, dependencies, and deliverables
  • Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews, planning sessions, and governance discussions
  • Develop and maintain project management plans, schedules, risk registers, issue logs, dependency logs, communication plans, governance processes, and status reporting mechanisms
  • Manage project scope, assess proposed changes and impacts, prepare recommendations, and facilitate governance decisions
  • Coordinate planning, prioritization, delivery, and approval of deliverables across internal teams, external vendors, consultants, and stakeholders
  • Coordinate communications, marketing, digital, content, event, partnership, and stakeholder-engagement workstreams
  • Build relationships with sponsors, stakeholders, vendors, business leaders, and delivery teams while leading cross-functional teams
  • Monitor project performance and manage risks, issues, dependencies, and delivery challenges
  • Prepare and present project updates, options analyses, recommendations, and decision materials for sponsors, governance bodies, and executive stakeholders
  • Support Agile and hybrid delivery through backlog management, roadmap planning, sprint planning, stakeholder reviews, retrospectives, and continuous improvement
  • Improve project delivery practices, governance processes, requirements-gathering approaches, stakeholder engagement practices, and organizational project management maturity

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of business experience, including 3–4 years leading projects, programs, initiatives, organizational change efforts, or business transformation activities
  • Experience managing projects through all phases of the project lifecycle
  • Experience developing project charters, business cases, project management plans, schedules, budgets, governance frameworks, communication plans, and status reporting processes
  • Experience leading requirements-gathering workshops, stakeholder interviews, discovery sessions, process-mapping workshops, backlog creation activities, and solution-definition discussions
  • Experience establishing scope boundaries, documenting assumptions and constraints, managing project scope, and assessing impacts from scope changes
  • Experience facilitating stakeholder alignment and consensus-building across multiple business units and teams
  • Experience managing project risks, issues, dependencies, assumptions, and change requests
  • Experience leading Agile, hybrid, and traditional project delivery initiatives
  • Experience supporting cross-functional projects involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Experience presenting project updates, recommendations, risks, and decisions to senior leadership and executive stakeholders
  • Post-secondary education in Project Management, Business Administration, Public Relations, Marketing, Commerce, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or equivalent project management certification
  • Advanced project planning, execution, monitoring, and close-out capabilities
  • Strong requirements gathering, business analysis, and scope definition experience
  • Workshop facilitation and stakeholder interview expertise
  • Advanced stakeholder management and consensus-building abilities
  • Risk, issue, dependency, and change management expertise
  • Governance and executive reporting experience
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Ability to coach stakeholders on project delivery methodologies
  • Experience using Microsoft 365 and project management tools
  • Knowledge of Agile, hybrid, and traditional project management methodologies
