About the role

  • AI Builder designing and building agentic AI workflows for automating business operations at Tempo. Utilizing tools to integrate and optimize processes across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and ship production-grade agentic AI workflows on the Vertex / Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform that automate real business-operations processes end to end.
  • Make Gemini, Claude, Slack (Slackbot), and Atlassian Rovo work together – orchestrating multi-model, multi-tool agents that reason, retrieve, call APIs, and take action across Tempo's stack rather than living in a single tool.
  • Partner first with PMO, Procurement, and Enterprise Applications – then expand to Accounting, FP&A, RevOps, and the CFO organization – to identify high-value automation opportunities and translate them into shipped workflows.
  • Run discovery with operations stakeholders: map the current process, define the target state, and scope what to automate, what to assist, and what to leave to humans.
  • Implement tool use and function calling so agents can fetch data, trigger APIs, and execute actions across Jira, Confluence, Slack, Google Workspace, procurement and finance systems, and other internal applications.
  • Build retrieval-grounded (RAG) and memory-enabled agents that draw on Tempo's knowledge so outputs are accurate, current, and context-aware.
  • Engineer reliable prompts, agent instructions, and orchestration logic; select the right model for each task and optimize for quality, latency, and cost.
  • Design guardrails, human-in-the-loop approvals, logging, and evaluation into every workflow – treating safety, auditability, and data governance as first-class requirements in partnership with the AI Ops governance layer.
  • Instrument workflows with monitoring, tracing, and success metrics; measure adoption and hours saved, and iterate based on real usage.
  • Establish and grow Tempo's AI Builder playbook – reusable patterns, templates, connectors, and standards so automations are consistent, secure, and easy to maintain as the practice scales.
  • Document workflows and enable business teams to adopt, trust, and (where appropriate) self-serve the agents you build.
  • Stay current with the fast-moving agentic AI landscape (models, frameworks, the evolving Vertex / Gemini Enterprise and Atlassian Rovo ecosystems) and bring practical recommendations back to the business.
  • Support the Tempo Way of Working by using Tempo and Jira products to manage and instrument the AI workflows you build.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of software, AI/ML, data, or automation engineering experience in technology or SaaS environments, including taking solutions from prototype to production.
  • 1+ year of hands-on experience building with LLMs and agentic AI – multi-step agents that use tools, maintain memory, and execute real actions (not just chat or content generation).
  • Hands-on familiarity with the Vertex AI / Gemini Enterprise Agent Builder platform (or a comparable enterprise agent platform) for designing and deploying agents.
  • Demonstrated fluency across the tools this role must integrate: Gemini, Claude, Slack/Slackbot, and Atlassian Rovo – and a track record of making multiple models and tools work together in a single workflow.
  • Strong skills in prompt engineering, tool/function calling, and API integration; comfortable working in Python (or similar) and wiring up systems that don't natively talk to each other.
  • Experience implementing RAG, retrieval, and grounding against enterprise knowledge sources.
  • Practical understanding of AI safety and evaluation – guardrails, human approvals, logging, testing, and techniques such as LLM-as-a-judge to assess agent quality and task completion.
  • Strong systems thinking – you naturally see dependencies, edge cases, failure modes, and second-order effects in a workflow.
  • Excellent stakeholder management; you can sit with a finance, procurement, or PMO leader, understand their process, and translate it into a working automation.
  • A bias toward shipping – you build, measure, and iterate rather than over-planning, while respecting security, identity, and data-governance constraints.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain AI capabilities and limitations to non-technical audiences and to senior leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in high-growth environments where ambiguity and change are constant. Experience in the Atlassian ecosystem and/or building automations for finance or operations teams is a strong plus.
  • Must be based in North America and able to work core hours in the Eastern (EST) time zone.
