About the role

  • Training Manager leading culturally grounded mental wellness and addictions education for First Nations communities. Overseeing training staff, curriculum, partnerships, budgets, and knowledge exchange at Thunderbird Partnership Foundation.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the Training and Education work plan and training objectives supporting the organization’s mandate and strategic priorities
  • Lead coordination of training initiatives, assigned training projects, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement of training deliverables
  • Provide leadership to the Training & Education team and align work with the organization’s mission, values, and priorities
  • Lead training and education staff and oversee related functions, systems, administration, and employee relations
  • Develop Training & Education programs, including Train the Trainer and Community of Practice programs
  • Oversee curriculum review and updates based on stakeholder evaluation
  • Incorporate Indigenous Knowledge into training methodology, delivery, curriculum, and knowledge-exchange resources
  • Monitor emerging training needs among the First Nations community workforce
  • Collaborate with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders on comprehensive mental wellness training programs
  • Participate in knowledge translation and support dialogue on Indigenous mental wellness and health research, action, and policy
  • Develop and oversee training plans, objectives, deliverables, activities, resources, timelines, responsibilities, and budgets
  • Monitor training and education work plans from initiation through completion
  • Analyze training requirements to prepare budgets and justify resources
  • Develop standard operating procedures for training resources and delivery
  • Oversee development of curricula, reference libraries, certification and evaluation procedures, multimedia aids, and educational materials
  • Ensure team members have the information, resources, and support needed to complete assignments
  • Maintain administrative structures, reporting systems, records management, and service delivery processes
  • Monitor digital tools, data systems, and reporting technologies
  • Guide the training team and promote accountability for training goals and objectives
  • Coordinate meetings with staff, partners, stakeholders, subject-matter experts, Knowledge Keepers, and other participants
  • Build respectful, trust-based relationships with First Nations communities, Knowledge Keepers, governments, organizations, partners, and stakeholders
  • Support identification of funding opportunities related to training, knowledge exchange, and organizational priorities

Requirements

  • PhD or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university in Education, Health, or Social Work, plus work experience in a Training and Education environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university combined with significant relevant experience may be considered
  • Ability to manage external and internal resources
  • Proven experience creating, managing, and executing project work plans
  • Excellent writing skills in English and ability to communicate clearly
  • Hands-on experience with MS Office
  • Proficiency using Zoom and other platforms for online meetings and events
  • Experience working with First Nations or an Indigenous organization
  • Knowledge of First Nations culture and customs, including natural healing
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and adapt to change
  • High professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to quality
  • Organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated success working collaboratively with staff, volunteers, board members, and stakeholders
  • Public speaking, presentation, community engagement, and networking skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships
  • Ability to travel and access worksites not accessible by public transit
  • Must sign an Oath of Confidentiality and observe the Code of Ethics Policy
  • Fluency in a First Nations language is considered an asset
