About the role

  • Team Lead overseeing a team of web developers to design Toon Boom's critical cloud platform. Leading modernization efforts and ensuring 24/7 operations and security of web infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • You will lead a team of passionate web developers to design and build our new Toon Boom cloud platform, a mission-critical initiative for the company.
  • You will be responsible for the architecture, development, security, and 24/7 operations of a modern AWS-based, TypeScript serverless stack.
  • Your technical leadership and vision will be essential to modernize our existing web infrastructure (PHP) and address the complex challenges of a mission-critical SaaS platform.
  • Lead and hire a team of web developers, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.
  • Architect and steer the construction of a new AWS-native cloud platform using a modern TypeScript serverless stack.
  • Lead the modernization of our existing web applications toward a modern, scalable microservices architecture.
  • Ensure the security, observability, and 24/7 reliability of the platform with expertise in OpenTelemetry, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Promote adoption of AI tools and AI-assisted coding engines to accelerate development while maintaining quality and security standards.
  • Build robust APIs and serverless backend applications with TypeScript while progressively modernizing the existing PHP infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7+ years of web development experience, including at least 3 years in technical leadership or team management roles.
  • Proven experience designing and deploying SaaS applications and APIs on AWS, with deep expertise in TypeScript serverless architecture (Lambda, API Gateway) and core services (RDS, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, IAM).
  • Strong proficiency in SQL (Aurora, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB), including caching strategies and query optimization.
  • Proficient in TypeScript / Node.js.
  • Experience with observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, CloudWatch, ELK) and a strong culture of monitoring and alerting for critical systems.
  • Advanced expertise in cybersecurity: secrets management, compliance (SOC 2, GDPR), security audits, and cloud security best practices.
  • Enthusiastic about adopting AI-based coding tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot) to boost productivity without compromising quality or security.
  • Willing to take full responsibility for platform stability 24/7, incident management, and resilience of critical systems.
  • Excellent leadership and mentoring skills, with an ability to foster technical excellence and continuous learning in a fast-moving environment.
