About the role

  • eLearning Specialist creating online learning courses and tools for the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Alberta. Collaborating with faculty to integrate technology in education.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Director, Community & International Education in the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation.
  • The eLearning Specialist is responsible for the creation of effective online learning tools and courses for the Faculty.
  • Promote and integrate online learning tools and instructional technology and courses throughout its programs.
  • Work with Faculty and ATS instructors and various staff on course development, evaluation tools, and support and promotion of online teaching.
  • Required to work in a diverse and complex working environment and communicate effectively.
  • Work on projects directed by the Director of ICE to design specific courses, micro-credentials, and/or professional development work for the Faculty.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent in instructional design, educational technology, training and development, teaching and learning in higher education or a related field, combined with training and experience in professional development and eLearning applications or other online collaboration tools.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in technology enhanced educational environments.
  • Demonstrated competency in developing instructional material in various online formats (written, video, other) and experience in creating online learning courses.
  • Knowledge of educational multimedia design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools to create, manipulate, edit and produce audio, video, and images.
  • Strong project management, prioritization and multitasking skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to make timely decisions and act on individual initiative.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of current best practices in instructional design and curriculum development.
  • Knowledge of standards and specifications including IMS, SCORM and accessibility.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
