About the role

  • Director advising the University of Toronto Faculty of Pharmacy Dean on governance, policy, and executive operations. Coordinating academic approvals, quality assurance, strategic planning, and confidential institutional initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Advance the Dean's institutional mandate by facilitating, implementing and coordinating Faculty-wide academic, governance and strategic priorities
  • Provide leadership for academic lifecycle activities, governance, strategic planning, executive operations and special institutional initiatives
  • Serve as the Dean's principal advisor on governance, institutional policy and executive decision-making
  • Advise senior leaders on academic initiatives requiring Faculty and University approval
  • Support undergraduate and graduate program reviews, new program approvals and quality assurance processes under UTQAP
  • Advise the Dean and Chair of Faculty Council on complex, sensitive or politically significant matters
  • Coordinate initiatives requiring Faculty Council, Provostial and Governing Council approvals
  • Develop, implement and evaluate governance frameworks, administrative policies, operational processes and institutional initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with University policies, accreditation standards and Faculty governance
  • Manage highly confidential matters requiring judgment, diplomacy, political acuity and discretion
  • Provide direct executive administrative support to the Dean and Associate Deans when requested
  • Liaise with senior administrators and manage complex, confidential and sensitive matters

Requirements

  • University degree in a related field required
  • Advanced degree an asset or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum five years of progressive experience in academic administration, governance, policy development, quality assurance, accreditation, strategic planning, executive advisory, and executive support within a post-secondary environment
  • Demonstrated leadership, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, political acuity, project leadership and management expertise
  • Committee management experience
  • Ability to manage highly confidential matters
  • Experience liaising with senior administrators and handling complex, confidential and highly sensitive matters
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Experience managing multiple complex projects to completion
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
  • Ability to assimilate and interpret significant amounts of information
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and various scheduling software products
  • Self-starter; detail-oriented; responsive; flexible in a consensus-driven environment
  • Ability to work effectively with high-level staff across the University system and outside organizations
  • Keen understanding of governance policies and procedures
  • Strong integrative, negotiation, confidentiality, tact, diplomacy, influence, relationship-building and cross-functional skills
