About the role
- Walmart Canada sourcing manager optimizing Food private-brand and national-brand imports. Managing vendor strategy, negotiations, costs, quality, and supplier relationships.
Responsibilities
- Execute Private Brand sourcing strategies for assigned categories, mainly Food, including direct imports for Private Brand and National Brand items
- Develop complex sourcing strategies by collaborating with cross-functional business partners
- Serve as a subject-matter and industry expert for multiple commodities and items
- Oversee sourcing programs at the item level and influence product and packaging innovation
- Align sourcing strategy with merchants' annual operating plans
- Provide perishability and quality insights for merchandise flow and replenishment decisions
- Incorporate company growth strategies, including growth in direct imports, into planning
- Create vendor decision matrices and evaluate vendors using performance metrics and long-term potential
- Negotiate sustainable product costs, track awarded costs against actual costs, and ensure cost keys are accurate
- Inform planners and merchants of changes affecting cost of goods
- Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships and multi-year contracts
- Assess vendor capabilities, conduct quarterly performance reviews, and resolve vendor issues
- Drive execution of business plans and projects, remove barriers, provide resources, and develop contingency plans
- Supervise and develop associates, promote company policies and values, and evaluate plans, programs, and initiatives
- Support community outreach events
