About the role

  • Software Architect building cloud-native defence training systems for ADGA Group, a Canadian defence and security company. Designing Kubernetes containers, IaC deployments, and secure Synthetic Training Hub infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Cloud-Native architecture for Royal Canadian Navy Cloud component systems and the Synthetic Training Hub
  • Ensure systems deploy as collaborative, self-contained units on public or private Cloud-Native infrastructure
  • Find or recommend Horizon or Synthetic Training Hub open-source or commercial components available as containers or suitable for containerization
  • Create architectural component design diagrams, network traffic diagrams, firewall rulesets, swim-lane diagrams, and security-control implementation tables
  • Develop IaC deployments for Navy organizational infrastructure supporting Cloud and Synthetic Training Hub pipelines
  • Develop Cloud-Native IaC deployments that can be sized, tuned, cost-optimized, and rapidly redeployed
  • Build TLA components from source when required to enable container creation
  • Develop TLA component containers for Horizon Kubernetes deployments
  • Develop Synthetic Training Hub containers for cooperative multi-user modeling and simulation scenarios and related user-experience infrastructure
  • Support development of the Royal Canadian Navy Cloud-Native training environment
  • Triage issues and manage priorities and time as the RCN develops and pivots to suitable solutions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a Canadian University or recognized by CICIC, or a recognized College Technical Diploma in Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics
  • 10+ years of progressive experience as a Software Developer
  • At least 4 years of recent experience as a Software Architect designing, developing, and deploying software systems
  • Experience deriving functional requirements in Software Architecture systems
  • Experience designing complex software systems, including software and IT architecture
  • Experience developing complex software systems, including software and IT architecture
  • Experience working in Microsoft and Unix/Linux operating system environments
  • Experience integrating and testing software in a Software Architecture system
  • Experience generating, updating, and maintaining software design documentation
  • Experience determining and implementing IT infrastructure
  • Experience working in a Cloud Native environment strongly preferred
  • Must currently hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret (Level II) Canadian Federal Government Security clearance
  • Must obtain/maintain VCR and Controlled Goods clearances
  • Consultants must hold Controlled Goods clearance and Insurance
