About the role

  • Portfolio Manager overseeing discretionary managed assets and advisor solutions for Aviso, a Canadian wealth management provider. Managing portfolios, reporting, compliance, and platform enhancements.

Responsibilities

  • Co-manage internal investment mandates and models
  • Improve Aviso’s Managed Account platform through innovation, automation, and data-driven insights
  • Support financial advisors with client meetings, presentations, correspondence, market updates, guidance, and growth opportunities
  • Participate in economic and market webcasts for advisors
  • Create, review, and approve client investment policy statements
  • Collaborate on tactical investment strategies, market analysis, and client implementation strategies
  • Review investment mandates and trading and recommend improvements
  • Communicate platform strategy, performance updates, and portfolio positioning to financial advisors
  • Gather field insights to guide managed-account functionality and advisor-experience enhancements
  • Manage and administer SMA and UMA accounts in the Portfolio Management System
  • Implement model portfolios from third-party investment managers
  • Coach and support junior team members on portfolio administration and management
  • Maintain expertise in Aviso’s custodial and portfolio management systems and processes
  • Manage quarterly client statement production and tax issues
  • Oversee managed-account compliance reporting and attribution analysis
  • Manage ongoing Compliance and Finance reporting requirements
  • Provide ad hoc reports to subadvisors, Compliance, and advisors
  • Monitor client accounts against Investment Policy Statements and compliance requirements
  • Report portfolio and client-account performance
  • Enhance managed solutions, product-shelf offerings, and fee-billing systems
  • Collaborate with Trading, Operations, Compliance, and Product Solutions teams

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in business or a related discipline
  • CFA Charter holder
  • Licensed CIRO Portfolio Manager (Discretionary)
  • 5-7 years’ experience in the investments industry, with at least 3 years of discretionary portfolio management experience
  • Strong understanding of the financial services industry, market research, portfolio theory and/or investment administration and sales
  • Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills
  • Experience applying data analytics and automation tools, including Python and Power BI
  • Experience streamlining and digitizing operational workflows within Wealth360 and Dataphile
  • Advanced level MS Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Bloomberg/Refinitiv (Eikon)
  • Experience with Wealth 360 and Dataphile is ideal
  • Programming knowledge in Python and JAVA is highly desirable
  • Experience supporting discretionary managed account programs or model portfolios
  • Experience working with third-party sub-advisors and model delivery platforms
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proven track record of managing activities and exceeding targets
  • Self-motivated and able to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Fluent communication skills in English required
  • Bilingual French skills are an asset
