About the role

  • Catastrophe Claims Adjuster assisting clients with property claims at Aviva. Review and analyze claims, ensuring accurate assessments and timely communications with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Review facts, policy, technical reports, fire marshal's reports, case law, and make decisions on coverage, value of first-party claims, and negotiate/settle the claims accordingly
  • Investigate by meeting with insureds, third parties, witnesses, and lawyers to acquire facts and information
  • Provide outstanding customer service and keep related parties advised of the claims status
  • Ensure data accuracy, issue payments to insureds, vendors, and other relevant parties
  • Negotiate and reconcile contractor estimates to arrive at an appropriate scope of repair and settlement
  • Conduct physical inspections of damaged properties, including taking photographs, using a drone, crafting diagrams, and completing a scope of damage and estimate using Xactimate estimating software
  • Identify large losses, questionable claim indicators, and subrogation opportunities early
  • Maintain accurate reserving of claims files

Requirements

  • College or University degree, or CIP designation
  • Prior customer service experience, preferably with face-to-face interaction
  • 3+ years of property personal and commercial experience
  • Knowledge of building construction and estimating software
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to travel across Canada at a moment's notice and work away from home for up to 30 days at a time
  • Capability to work extended hours and weekends 365 days/year
  • Valid driver’s license
