About the role
- Payroll Accounting Lead managing payroll remittances and reports for Bird construction. Ensuring compliance with company policies while leading a dynamic payroll team.
Responsibilities
- Process company payroll remittances in a timely manner
- Review payroll remittances such as union dues and employee benefits
- Perform reconciliations on general ledger accounts
- Support month-end and year-end reporting requirements
- Prepare detailed payroll reports for internal stakeholders
- Interpret collective agreements and ensure compliance
- Lead the payroll accounting team of administrators
- Maintain confidential employee information
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree or Diploma in Business, Accounting or equivalent skills
- A minimum of 5 years’ payroll experience processing the full payroll cycle
- PCP designation and experience using an in-house payroll system considered an asset
- Completed or working toward a CPA designation considered an asset
- Efficient with Excel and data processing skills
- Proven track record of process improvements
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Customer service oriented and a team player
- Ability to manage a large volume of work
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills
