About the role

  • Payroll and Accounting Analyst at Touchstone Institute managing payroll and accounts payable functions. Ensuring compliance and collaborating with teams for financial accuracy in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the payroll function including processes payroll, insured benefits and pension benefits for full-time, fixed-term, and casual employees.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable legislation and tax laws and stays informed of regulatory changes.
  • Completes preparation and filing of all statutory returns including EHT, WSIB, payroll remittances, and compliance reports.
  • Issues ROE, Processes annual T4 and T4As, Annual payroll and remittances reconciliation.
  • Attends to queries of staff regarding payroll, tax forms and other finance-related requests.
  • Collaborates closely with the People and Culture team to implement changes and improvements to staff payroll and benefits processes and solutions.
  • Administers the accounts payable process, including timely invoice processing and vendor record management.
  • Prepares journal entries, account reconciliations, quarter-end and year-end accounting schedules.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of payroll and accounts payable or accounting experience
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll processes, tax structure, statutory deductions, and pension benefits
  • Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) certification is an asset.
  • Experience in non-profit and healthcare organizations is an asset.
  • Strong, proven diligence with a customer service emphasis
  • Experience interacting with external auditors and government tax authorities.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with databases and financial systems for financial analysis and reporting
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
