About the role

  • BMO Financial Planner advising customers on investments, retirement savings, and banking products. Building relationships and growing financial services through needs-based recommendations and referrals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial and investment planning and advice in the customer’s best interests
  • Determine client needs and sell managed products and services, including mutual funds and retirement savings plans
  • Refer customers to business partners for additional solutions
  • Engage new and existing customers through needs-based assessments
  • Implement business development strategies, outbound calling campaigns, and branch referrals
  • Generate appointments and build new community relationships
  • Identify referral opportunities for personal and commercial banking products
  • Support sales and performance targets
  • Develop and implement relationship management plans
  • Respond to investment requests and recommend suitable products
  • Analyze strategic problems and data to provide insights and recommendations
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service
  • Introduce investment strategies, set customer goals, and support financial progress
  • Integrate marketing promotions and programs into customer conversations
  • Contribute to improved business results and customer experience
  • Maintain current knowledge of personal investment products, practices, and trends
  • Work at multiple branches and through various channels based on market needs
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Protect bank assets and comply with regulatory, legal, and ethical requirements
  • Apply BMO’s Risk Management Framework and make risk-informed decisions

Requirements

  • Typically 3–5 years of relevant experience
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field of study, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must meet regulatory/governing body licensing and registration requirements for a Financial Planner in the province or territory of employment
  • Advanced working knowledge of the financial industry
  • Specialized knowledge from education and/or business experience
  • In-depth verbal and written communication skills
  • In-depth collaboration and team skills
  • In-depth analytical and problem-solving skills
  • In-depth influence skills
  • Ability to work mostly independently
  • Ability to comply with applicable policies, laws, regulations, and ethical requirements
