About the role

  • Bilingual 9-8-8 Hub Supervisor supporting responders for Canada’s national suicide crisis helpline. Providing real-time coaching, quality assurance, and trainee supervision remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time coaching, feedback, and emotional support/debriefing to responders
  • Ensure adherence to program standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Assist responders in determining when to intervene or report as required
  • Review contact reports, recorded interactions, and text transcripts
  • Provide assessments, feedback, and recommendations during responder evaluations
  • Support, supervise, and provide feedback to trainee responders
  • Assist with roleplays and relevant training activities during virtual training sessions
  • Participate in mentoring shifts
  • Provide assessments, feedback, and recommendations during trainee evaluations
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned
  • Support a healthy, diverse, collaborative workplace and comply with regulatory and legislative requirements

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience as a responder/in a crisis or distress centre
  • Sound knowledge of crisis intervention principles and skills
  • Knowledge of best practices in suicide prevention
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Empathy, flexibility, and adaptability
  • Excellent listening and communication skills in English and French preferred
  • Collaborative approach and ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work with diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds, teams, and stakeholders
  • High levels of sensitivity and diplomacy
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Reliability and flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and work on short notice
  • Strict adherence to confidentiality policies
  • Dedicated, private workspace within the home
  • Computer with secure internet access
  • Telephone headset or hands-free device
