About the role

Interfacility Transport Coordinator handling medical assistance calls and coordinating patient transportation for Manitoba’s provincial health system. Managing dispatch communications, caller triage, case records, and agency coordination.

Responsibilities

Answer and process calls for service and requests for assistance
Obtain essential caller information and triage injuries and illnesses
Monitor and operate communication systems
Receive, record, and maintain support information for each case
Process low-acuity calls and administrative requests; enter information into the computer system
Refer callers to appropriate clinical personnel
Advise law enforcement and other agencies when their involvement is required
Receive and provide information from law enforcement, hospitals, agencies, and institutions to the VECTRS Team
Communicate effectively with co-workers to support departmental, program, and regional operations
Adhere to Workplace Safety and Health Regulations and Policies
Participate in fire prevention, disaster preparedness, safety, and health programs
Collaborate with in-service education programs and serve as a resource to staff and health care professionals
Maintain and update professional skills through continuing education
Provide mentorship and training to team members
Participate in committees and regular staff meetings
Perform other related duties as required

Degree/Diploma in a relevant health care or health sciences related discipline from an accredited education institution
A combination of education training and/or experience may be considered
Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate
Experience in a call center environment is highly-desirable
Knowledge or experience working with Emergency Department Information Systems (EDIS) is an asset
Knowledge of Emergency Medical Service/medical transportation communication and operations is an asset
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Typing/Keyborading skills at 35 wpm
Ability to multi-task
Ability to work as part of a team and independently
Ability to respect and promote confidentiality
Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis
Competent in Windows based computer programs
Strong organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills
Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
Working knowledge of the provincial geography
Ability to work shifts: Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends and General Holidays
Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, as a condition of employment
