About the role
- Back-end developer building Oracle PL/SQL systems and Java REST APIs for CMiC, a construction software company. Optimizing databases, integrating applications, and supporting high-volume transactional systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop advanced Oracle PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, and triggers
- Write complex SQL queries using joins and subqueries
- Perform query optimization, execution plan analysis, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
- Design normalized and denormalized data schemas
- Implement bulk processing and efficient data handling techniques
- Use Oracle development tools including PL/SQL Developer, TOAD, and SQL*Plus
- Handle errors, exceptions, and logging
- Work with large datasets and high-volume transactional systems
- Apply object-oriented programming and Java programming
- Design and implement RESTful APIs
- Develop Java back-end applications
- Work with Spring/Spring Boot, Swagger/OpenAPI, and JSON/XML
- Implement secure APIs using OAuth2, JWT, and basic authentication
- Support system integration across multiple applications
- Participate in Agile/Scrum development
- Apply CI/CD pipelines, version control, SDLC, secure coding, data integrity, and API lifecycle practices where applicable
Requirements
- 3–7+ years in backend development
- Significant hands-on experience with Oracle database development
- Proven experience developing and maintaining PL/SQL code in enterprise environments
- Experience building and consuming REST APIs in Java
- Exposure to system integration across multiple applications
- Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting production issues
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis abilities
- Ability to analyze complex data flows and system dependencies
- Debugging and troubleshooting complex database and API issues
- Translating business requirements into efficient technical solutions
- Identifying performance bottlenecks and optimizing solutions
