About the role
- Credit Risk Intern supporting EQ Bank, a Canadian challenger bank, with PySpark and SQL analytics. Building automation and optimizing customer risk strategies for credit card growth.
Responsibilities
- Work within the portfolio management team of the customer risk department
- Collaborate with the team to build new process efficiencies
- Aid with optimizing and implementing new risk strategies that drive business growth and achieve strategic objectives
- Learn the fundamentals of the credit card industry
- Extract and prepare data for ad-hoc analysis and reporting using PySpark and SQL queries
- Build automation processes for monthly and quarterly deliverables
- Participate in analysis of business strategy impact on risk management models
- Create and track documentation for risk strategies, reporting, and analysis
- Conduct risk strategy changes and implementation
- Explore customer data and brainstorm improvements to existing risk strategies
Requirements
- An academic focus in mathematics, statistics, business, or a quantitative discipline
- Hands on experience with programming languages such as PySpark, SQL, or Python
- Expert in MS Office, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint
- Detail oriented and an ability to propose creative solutions
- Capability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Previous experience with MS Excel VBA is a plus
- Ability to prioritize and independently execute assigned work
- Team player and results oriented
