About the role

  • EQ Bank intern supporting mortgage closing, funding, and loan setup processes. Reviewing documentation, updating systems, and resolving discrepancies for Canadian banking operations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Equitable Bank’s closing service provider to provide necessary data and documentation for property purchases or mortgage refinances
  • Liaise with the Residential Credit Team to identify and resolve inconsistent information, assign tasks, monitor progress, and verify corrections
  • Review documentation from the lending portal
  • Update systems and portals with borrower data based on loan product and type
  • Prepare accurate insurance documents
  • Verify legal representatives meet integrity and compliance standards
  • Manage tasks and deadlines to meet Service Level Agreements
  • Address rush loans and reinstructions professionally
  • Complete and review reports for Quality Assurance compliance
  • Monitor the closing service provider’s portal to confirm fund disbursement
  • Set up pre-authorized payments and configure Lines of Credit on the servicing portal
  • Generate and distribute welcome letters
  • Verify property and mailing addresses and update borrower risk ratings
  • Process payments to business partners and brokers
  • Finalize mortgage loan setups using the Post-Funding Checklist
  • Resolve deficiencies and discrepancies with solicitors and the closing service provider
  • Review final solicitor reports for mortgage registration compliance
  • Update loan statuses and follow up on outstanding reports
  • Escalate unresolved cases to management
  • Draft and issue formal demand letters when required
  • Manage Agreement Amending Mortgages documentation, approvals, legal authorization, signatures, records, and document returns

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a post-secondary program in Business, Communications, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Established and meticulous time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of mortgages
  • Proven ability to thrive under pressure and perform well in a high volume, high intensity environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to respond in a clear and professional manner
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office
  • Logical thinker with ability to multi-task
  • Post-secondary education (diploma)
  • All candidates considered for hire must successfully complete a criminal background check and credit check
