EHS Manager leading safety teams, inspections, incident reporting, and compliance for GFL Environmental’s environmental-services operations. Based in Mississauga with 50-75% travel across Ontario.
Responsibilities
Manage a team of EHS Advisors and field Coordinators
Manage employee orientations, onboarding, and training requirements
Inspect organizational facilities for existing or potential accident and health hazards
Prepare and investigate incident and injury reports
Cooperate in preparing materials for insurance
Complete weekly/monthly reports on operational hours and incidents
Support WSIB claim reporting, return-to-work activities, and modified work programs
Provide information and resources for safety tailgates with staff
Develop, implement, and enforce local/regional SOPs with operational staff
Communicate health and safety policies and procedures to employees
Implement and champion EHSMS
Participate on the Joint Health and Safety Committee
Provide support and administrative assistance to the health and safety team
Assist with compliance and regulatory issues, HOS, DOT random testing, and related matters
Maintain safety files, employee records, and training databases
Perform other duties as required
Travel within Ontario as required
Requirements
College Diploma or University Degree, preferably in health and safety
5-7 years of experience in a Health and Safety or a related role
2-3 years of experience mentoring and managing field level staff
Comprehensive knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and industry safety standards
Experience with IHSA COR Proficient with MS Office Suite
Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
Self-starting proactive individual able to work independently and in a team environment
Able to work under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to travel 50-75% within Ontario
Valid driver’s license
Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located; GFL does not provide visa sponsorship
