About the role

  • Manager Compensation overseeing financial reporting, accounting controls, audits, and regulatory compliance at BMO bank. Advising business groups on accounting changes and risk-informed financial decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate, analyze, and report financial results in compliance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements
  • Deliver accounting program and process results aligned with overall group goals
  • Review and personally deliver accounting services and processing activities
  • Support efficient and effective accounting functions and improve service-level performance
  • Produce timely, accurate, and relevant information and reporting for group, legal entity, and reportable segment results
  • Support planning and implementation of financial programs for fiscal period close processes
  • Coordinate sign-off and attestation of reported financial results
  • Analyze data to provide financial performance insights and recommendations for consolidated business financial statements
  • Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making
  • Monitor compliance with financial information standards and regulations and address issues
  • Support internal and external audits by providing information
  • Integrate information from multiple sources to improve processes, analysis, and reporting
  • Design and produce regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders across functional disciplines
  • Liaise between stakeholders to align agendas and clarify business needs
  • Support accounting, risk, and regulatory strategic initiatives
  • Liaise with auditors and regulators regarding issues and questions
  • Advise assigned business/group on accounting changes, impacts, reporting requirements, and process/control changes
  • Assist with strategic plans for reporting and accounting needs
  • Participate in designing, implementing, and managing financial processes, reporting, systems, and controls
  • Provide specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support
  • Independently diagnose and solve non-routine problems within established rules
  • Make risk-informed decisions aligned with business strategy and applicable requirements

Requirements

  • Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience
  • Post-secondary degree in related field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Professional accounting designation preferred
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience
  • In-depth verbal and written communication skills

  • In-depth influence skills
  • In-depth data-driven decision-making skills
  • Ability to apply BMO’s Risk Management Framework and comply with applicable policies, laws, regulations, standards, and procedures
