About the role

  • Project Manager overseeing civil construction and mining infrastructure projects in British Columbia. Leading project delivery and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of project delivery from pre-construction through completion.
  • Develop project schedules, budgets, work plans, and resource allocations.
  • Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers.
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Ensure projects meet quality standards, technical specifications, and contractual obligations.
  • Manage heavy civil construction activities including:
  • road building
  • site preparation
  • earthworks
  • excavation
  • grading
  • drainage systems
  • bridges and culverts
  • utility installation
  • Oversee equipment utilization and productivity.
  • Coordinate infrastructure and operational support projects within mining environments.
  • Ensure compliance with operational requirements for remote and industrial sites.
  • Work closely with site superintendents and operations teams to minimize disruptions to production.
  • Promote a strong safety culture aligned with:
  • WorkSafeBC regulations
  • OH&S standards
  • Health Safety and Reclamation code for mines in British Columbia
  • Mines Act
  • environmental legislation
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety meetings, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure environmental protection measures are implemented and maintained.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking.
  • Review and approve invoices, purchase orders, and change orders.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, Indigenous communities, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • Lead project meetings and provide regular status updates.
  • Support business development activities, tender submissions, and project proposals.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field.
  • PMP certification considered an asset.
  • 5–10+ years of project management experience in:
  • heavy civil construction
  • mining infrastructure
  • forestry operations
  • resource sector projects
  • Strong understanding of:
  • BC construction practices
  • contract administration
  • scheduling software
  • cost control systems
  • Experience managing remote site operations in Western Canada preferred.
  • · Valid Class 5 driver’s license and willingness to travel to remote project sites
  • · Proficiency with:
  • Microsoft Project
  • Primavera P6
  • Excel
  • AutoCAD (asset)
  • ERP/project tracking systems
