About the role

  • Field Service Technician/Engineer repairing and maintaining power equipment for Hitachi Energy. Involves on-site troubleshooting, installation, and compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting, repair, installation, testing, commissioning, and start-up of power equipment.
  • Execute transformer installation and maintenance activities, including bushing replacement and leak repairs.
  • Conduct electrical testing of transformers (power factor, ratio, resistance, insulation resistance, SFRA).
  • Operate and maintain transformer oil processing rigs.
  • Prepare technical reports and customer documentation after site work.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and engineering teams to provide field service expertise.
  • Mentor other field service employees and support technical training initiatives.
  • Ensure all site work meets safety requirements and compliance standards.

Requirements

  • Trade education, college diploma, or university degree in a technical field (electrical, mechanical, etc.).
  • Minimum 5 years of electrical field service experience or relevant substation/transformer experience.
  • Strong knowledge of power transformers and power system equipment; HV knowledge is an asset.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems independently.
  • Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license and acceptable driving record; valid passport for international travel.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in Canada.
