About the role

  • Human Resources Business Partner supporting employees, leaders, and HR initiatives at IKO, a Canadian roofing and building-materials manufacturer. Managing employee relations, benefits, recruitment, compliance, and union activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive day-to-day HR support to employees and leadership
  • Foster collaborative relationships and deliver HR expertise aligned with organizational goals
  • Collaborate with HR Managers and business leaders to execute HR strategies and initiatives
  • Assist with HR communications, program and policy rollout, and tracking training and compliance requirements
  • Manage daily employee inquiries and prepare official correspondence
  • Address questions concerning compensation, benefits, policies, and employment-related matters
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and terminations
  • Support implementation and consistent interpretation and enforcement of HR policies
  • Coordinate recruitment for hourly positions, including interviewing and facilitating hiring
  • Participate in collective bargaining negotiations with union representatives
  • Conduct new employee orientations and support onboarding
  • Oversee leave of absence and return-to-work procedures with Payroll, Benefits Team, and managers/supervisors
  • Contribute to Group HR projects
  • Organize and execute engagement, wellness, recognition, and company social events
  • Maintain confidentiality of HRIS data and employee records
  • Partner with business unit leaders to provide strategic HR support and guidance
  • Conduct employee relations investigations and facilitate conflict resolution meetings and training
  • Support talent management initiatives and coach leaders on performance improvement and development plans
  • Assist in developing and implementing HR policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Manage exit interviews and provide analysis and follow-up
  • Gather employee feedback and contribute ideas to improve satisfaction and organizational culture

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area of study with focus on Human Resources Management
  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience
  • CHRP or in progress is preferred
  • Experience working in a manufacturing and/or union environment is preferred
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of local laws and regulations concerning employment standards, human rights, and health and safety
  • Proven experience in leading HR projects and initiatives
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, preferably Workday, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication, coaching and influencing abilities
  • Customer-focused mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Exceptional attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate business needs into effective HR solutions
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving environment
  • Ability to travel 15–20% within Canada and potentially to the US
