About the role

  • HR Business Partner supporting TFI International’s unionized and non-unionized transportation operations across Western Canada. Advising leaders on employee relations, labour relations, compliance, investigations, and HR programs.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with directors and managers to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business and operational priorities and TFI International initiatives.
  • Coach leaders through performance management, attendance, discipline, compensation, and complex employee-related matters.
  • Conduct full-scale investigations, including workplace violence and harassment investigations.
  • Provide business-focused WCB support and liaise with the Company, Workers Compensation Board, and third-party representatives.
  • Manage and support leaves of absence, including short-term disability, long-term disability, medical EI, unpaid leaves, and job-protected leaves.
  • Interpret and administer collective agreements.
  • Advise on discipline of unionized employees and participate in the grievance process.
  • Conduct labour-relations investigations with management and union representatives.
  • Build productive relationships with union representatives and participate in collective bargaining activities as opportunities arise.
  • Participate in regional talent reviews, succession planning, and retention initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with employment equity reporting, pay equity projects, and internal reporting requirements.
  • Interpret and apply employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, labour relations, privacy, and other employment legislation.
  • Lead HR initiatives and process improvement projects.
  • Report to the Manager, Human Resources, Western Canada.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or a combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of progressive HR experience is preferred; candidates with less experience may be considered where they demonstrate strong judgement, labour-relations exposure, and business acumen.
  • CPHR designation or CPHR candidates preferred.
  • Experience working with unionized workforces will be considered an asset.
  • Strong judgement, labour-relations exposure, and business acumen.
  • Ability to critically assess issues, identify risk, and develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to manage several tasks/projects simultaneously with strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong business relationships.
