About the role

  • Director consolidating forecasts, budgets, and investor narratives for Instacart’s grocery delivery marketplace. Leading financial governance, capital allocation, and a high-performing Strategic Finance team.

Responsibilities

  • Own the consolidated P&L forecast and provide a trusted, reconciled view of company performance
  • Integrate inputs from Strategic Finance, Accounting, Business Operations, Investor Relations, and other teams
  • Lead monthly and quarterly close cycles, variance analysis, and executive-quality management reporting
  • Maintain a five-year GAAP and non-GAAP long-range financial model with scenario analysis
  • Orchestrate the annual budgeting process and secure cross-functional alignment
  • Deliver Board decks, investor materials, and quarterly business review packages
  • Produce the weekly consolidated P&L outlook and synthesize business insights into actionable narratives
  • Build scalable, repeatable, and auditable forecasting processes aligned with Accounting's close process
  • Design and implement Business Unit P&Ls
  • Support timely and effective internal capital allocation decisions
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Finance team
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CFO, Strategic Finance, Accounting, Investor Relations, Legal, and other business partners
  • Report to the Vice President of Investor Relations and Strategic Finance

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in a relevant field
  • Proven experience in FP&A, Corporate Finance, or Strategic Finance at a high-growth or public technology company
  • Direct ownership of consolidated financial reporting and forecasting processes
  • Deep understanding of GAAP financial statements
  • Comfort operating across GAAP and non-GAAP financial frameworks
  • High proficiency in advanced Excel/Sheets
  • Ability to build and maintain complex, enterprise-grade financial models
  • Experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders, including Accounting, Investor Relations, and Business Operations
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong people management experience and track record developing high-performing Finance teams
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment
  • MBA preferred
  • Familiarity with Adaptive, Oracle, Workiva, Pigment, Anaplan, or similar enterprise FP&A tools preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced SQL proficiency preferred
  • Experience with consumer marketplace businesses or on-demand commerce preferred
  • Ability to work from the San Francisco or New York City office on occasion preferred
