Project Manager overseeing budgets, schedules, staff, and contractors for Wood’s global mining and metals engineering projects. Hybrid role based in Saskatoon.
About the role
- Field Project Manager leading complex fire alarm and security installations in commercial and industrial facilities across Canada. Managing project scope, cost, and customer satisfaction while ensuring safety standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex fire alarm, security, sprinkler and communications installation projects in commercial, educational, healthcare, industrial, and military facilities.
- Responsible for setup of local project offices, project scope definition, risk identification, project methodology, resource allocation, and facilitation.
- Manages schedule, cost, safety, quality, and customer expectations/satisfaction.
- Presents to management and/or customers on project updates, project cycle, and expected results.
- Ensures projects are closed on time and in scope.
- Oversees and communicates project progression from inception to completion including design, permits, material delivery, labor schedules, and field installation.
- Develops a comprehensive project plan to meet schedules and budgets.
- Conducts Work in Progress meetings.
- Understands and follows all published codes, standards, and unique project specifications.
- Work hand in hand with design teams and operations manager to ensure project deliverables are met.
- Ensures AHJ requirements and departmental/SOX procedures are followed.
- Coordinates change orders and works toward overall margin improvement on every job.
- Assist with and/or make material/equipment deliveries to job sites and customers.
- Collect and compile daily T&M detail sheets for sign off, to be included in monthly progress claims.
- Create and publish to customer any deficiencies found in the installation for fire alarm system that will impact system operation.
- Support Technicians on site document all technical issues develop action plan to rectify to ensure schedule is not impacted.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certificate or diploma in a related field (Fire & Life Safety, Electrical/Electronic; Security).
- Certification in Fire Alarm Systems preferred.
- 5 years’ installation experience in Fire, Electrical, or Security systems.
- Expectation that Project Management Professional certification will be obtained within two years of employment in the position.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Project).
- Ability to create Excel spreadsheets, reference data in other spreadsheets, and create macros is required.
