About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily cash flows, banking relationships, and liquidity
  • Oversee cash forecasting and debt management
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and treasury policies
  • Act as an authorized signatory for operating accounts
  • Oversee the management and administration of bank accounts, banking platforms, and the corporate credit card program
  • Oversee the management and reconciliation of client trust accounts
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to trust accounts
  • Liaise with auditors, regulatory bodies, and clients
  • Respond to audits, inquiries, and quarterly and annual reporting requirements
  • Supervise the accounts payable team and the processing of invoices, expense reports, and payments
  • Monitor and improve efficiency, internal controls, and compliance
  • Manage and administer Concur Solutions
  • Lead, mentor, and train a finance team
  • Implement process improvements and automation
  • Prepare and present reports to executive and management committees
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on financial projects
  • Provide client service to lawyers and staff

Requirements

  • University degree and accounting designation (e.g., CPA designation or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role within a professional services environment, preferably in the legal sector
  • Experience with legal financial systems (e.g., Aderant, Elite, or similar) is preferred
  • Advanced MS Excel skills required
  • Knowledge of automation tools and digital payment platforms is an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in a national or multi-office law firm is preferred
  • Bilingualism in French and English
  • Ability to process and follow up on inquiries from clients and third parties who communicate exclusively in English
  • Ability to interact with colleagues across offices in Canada
