About the role

  • Senior Design Manager shaping AI-native interfaces for Mercury’s fintech products. Leading product designers and evolving reusable interaction patterns across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve Mercury’s interaction philosophy, focusing on AI-native, conversational, adaptive, and proactive experiences across products
  • Set an exceptional product-quality bar across the Interfaces organization, including mobile, dashboard, and agentic products
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of product designers
  • Shape product strategy with Product and Engineering and bring design into ambiguous problems early
  • Use critique, prototyping, exploration, and hands-on collaboration to improve concepts and experiences
  • Raise the craft and product-thinking bar across Mercury’s broader Design organization by sharing frameworks, perspectives, and emerging ideas
  • Develop interaction patterns that can influence how Mercury builds software across the company

Requirements

  • Exceptional product taste and strong visual and interaction design fundamentals
  • Strong point of view on AI-native interfaces
  • Experience experimenting with conversational, adaptive, intelligent, and proactive interaction models
  • Successfully led and developed product designers
  • Ability to recognize individual designers' strengths and provide clear, thoughtful feedback
  • Ability to think about interactions as systems, including patterns, information architecture, behaviors, and principles
  • Experience partnering strategically with Product and Engineering
  • Understanding of technical constraints
  • Ability to operate independently with a strong point of view
  • Experience designing AI-powered or consumer software, strong prototyping skills, close partnership with Design Systems, or deep motion and interaction expertise especially relevant but not required
