About the role

  • Payroll Systems Compliance Specialist ensuring compliance and efficiency in Canadian and U.S. payroll systems with system testing and issue resolution. Collaborating with HRIS team and payroll operations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for payroll system configuration, calculations, and overall functionality for Canadian and US payrolls.
  • Support compliance with all applicable federal, provincial/state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations for Canada and the US.
  • Monitor legislative changes and coordinates updates to system configurations and processes to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the end-to-end payroll processes for the Canadian and US payrolls, including data input, calculations, deductions, and reporting.
  • Proving payroll processing support Canadian and US payrolls during absences or high-volume periods.
  • Gather information, investigate and resolve payroll system issues in collaboration with the HRIS team and payroll operations.
  • Validate payroll data integrity and accuracy with regards to the incoming and outgoing data integrations
  • Plan, execute, and document testing for all payroll system updates, patches, and integrations to ensure accuracy minimize risk.
  • Collaborate with the payroll team to identify system inefficiencies, and recommend improvements to enhance payroll operations and compliance
  • Participate in the implementation of new system modules, enhancements and process changes.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of payroll system configurations, processes, and compliance procedures.
  • Assist in training and supporting payroll team members on system functionalities and compliance-related updates.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent Human Resources/Payroll experience
  • Certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP), or Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP)
  • Proven experience in payroll operations, with a strong emphasis on system administration and compliance for both Canadian and US payrolls
  • Knowledge of Canadian and US federal, provincial/state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret complex payroll calculations and system logic
  • Experience with payroll system testing methods and documentation
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to identify issues, analyze data, and propose effective solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with team members
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite
