Responsibilities
Prepare and process weekly payroll for union, non-union, hourly, and salaried employees.
Ensure all payroll data files are complete, accurate, approved, and transmitted to the payroll service provider on time.
Review and verify approved timesheets and other payroll input documents for accuracy.
Track, process, and maintain garnishments and other special payroll deductions.
Administer the issuance of T4s, ROEs, T2200s, and other payroll-related reports as required.
Ensure employees are paid accurately and in compliance with all applicable regulations and timelines.
Collaborate with HR and other departments to maintain accurate and up-to-date employee and payroll records.
Assist with year-end payroll reporting and the filing of annual returns with federal and provincial governments.
Prioritize tasks effectively to meet strict payroll deadlines.
Maintain confidentiality of employee and payroll information at all times.
Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries.
Work collaboratively with team members to coordinate responsibilities and ensure critical deadlines are achieved.
Requirements
PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation or currently working toward certification is an asset.
Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and Employment Standards across Canada.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Minimum three years of payroll experience, preferably in a high-volume environment.
Experience with unionized payroll environments and complex payroll processing is preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to manage tight payroll deadlines with accuracy and efficiency.
Strong attention to detail and excellent numeracy skills.
