About the role
- Principal SDET Lead automating tests for Akamai’s cloud microservices. Building frameworks, pipelines, and deployment scripts for its distributed internet platform.
Responsibilities
- Work with engineering teams to identify how to test proposed changes
- Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and test pipelines, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
- Create and maintain test plans and test cases for compute services, covering relevant scenarios and edge cases
- Write and maintain scripts to automate deployments, migrations, and rollbacks
- Investigate and troubleshoot complex issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff
- Promote best practices and ensure quality standards are met
- Develop automation for testing cloud microservices
Requirements
- 12 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent
- Proficiency with Python and Pytest
- Good understanding of modern testing methodologies
- Working knowledge of Perl and Golang
- Experience debugging across environments and reproducing failing tests locally on x86 versus ARM, native or emulated
- Knowledge of Debian packaging
- Knowledge of QEMU's TCG versus KVM acceleration
- Expertise in cloud-native infrastructure
- Understanding of system internals and performance
- Experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and SaltStack
- Good Linux fundamentals, especially performance tuning
- Experience with Bash and scripting fundamentals
- Understanding of modern software development life cycle processes
- Understanding of service-level objective monitoring and alerting
