About the role
- Senior test engineer automating testing, deployment, and validation for Akamai’s distributed cloud and edge platform. Building microservice test frameworks and deployment automation.
Responsibilities
- Automate the SDLC pipeline from testing through deployment and validation
- Investigate and troubleshoot deployment-related issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions across environments
- Develop and maintain automated test frameworks for code changes, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
- Create and maintain test plans and test cases for microservices, covering relevant scenarios and edge cases
- Collaborate with other engineering groups on integration testing
- Suggest improvements to testing environments
- Investigate requirements for safe deployment and rollback strategies
- Verify deployment requirements during the deployment process
- Write and maintain scripts to automate platform service deployments
Requirements
- 8 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent
- Python and Pytest knowledge
- Good understanding of modern testing methodologies
- Working knowledge of Perl and Golang
- Experience debugging across environments and reproducing failing tests locally on x86 vs. ARM, native or emulated
- Knowledge of Debian packaging
- Knowledge of QEMU's TCG vs KVM acceleration
- Good Linux fundamentals, especially performance tuning
- Experience with Bash and scripting fundamentals
- Experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and SaltStack
- Understanding of modern software development life cycle processes
- Understanding of service level objective monitoring and alerting
