About the role
- Accountant supporting solar construction project finances for PCL in Oakville. Processing payables, billings, reporting, bank deposits, and cash receipts while maintaining financial controls.
Responsibilities
- Performs clerical and data entry support to meet contractual requirements for operational and basic accounting
- Processes all accounts payable and accounts received in a timely and accurate manner
- Provides project teams with ad hoc reports and analysis as needed
- Assists with assembling information for internal and external financial reporting requirements
- Assembles client billing packages according to contract terms and conditions and ensures timely payment
- Prepares bank deposits and cash receipt entries
- Provides trusted financial guidance, maintains strong controls, and supports exceptional project results
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in a related field is considered an asset
- Some student experience or 6 months to 1 year of accounting or administrative experience is preferred
- Exposure to project forecasting and budgeting
- Basic understanding of accounting principles, including maintenance of ledgers and cash flows
- Exposure to project costing principles, recoveries, insurance, and contract/subcontract requirements related to accounting
- Exposure to subcontract purchase order terms, including insurance and subcontractor default insurance requirements
- Basic understanding of lien rights
- Ability to exercise discretion when handling confidential information
- Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with accounting software is an asset
