About the role

  • Accountant supporting solar construction project finances for PCL in Oakville. Processing payables, billings, reporting, bank deposits, and cash receipts while maintaining financial controls.

Responsibilities

  • Performs clerical and data entry support to meet contractual requirements for operational and basic accounting
  • Processes all accounts payable and accounts received in a timely and accurate manner
  • Provides project teams with ad hoc reports and analysis as needed
  • Assists with assembling information for internal and external financial reporting requirements
  • Assembles client billing packages according to contract terms and conditions and ensures timely payment
  • Prepares bank deposits and cash receipt entries
  • Provides trusted financial guidance, maintains strong controls, and supports exceptional project results

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in a related field is considered an asset
  • Some student experience or 6 months to 1 year of accounting or administrative experience is preferred
  • Exposure to project forecasting and budgeting
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, including maintenance of ledgers and cash flows
  • Exposure to project costing principles, recoveries, insurance, and contract/subcontract requirements related to accounting
  • Exposure to subcontract purchase order terms, including insurance and subcontractor default insurance requirements
  • Basic understanding of lien rights
  • Ability to exercise discretion when handling confidential information
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with accounting software is an asset
