About the role
- Field Engineer/Coordinator supporting PCL Construction’s Edmonton building projects. Coordinating quality, safety, quantities, schedules, and subtrade work.
Responsibilities
- Assist with updating drawings and specifications
- Coordinate inventory and track time sheets, costs, and quantities
- Prepare quantity takeoffs
- Assist in creating, implementing, and monitoring the quality plan, including conducting quality inspections and identifying issues on-site and in work scopes
- Conduct basic safety inspections and training, identify and correct safety hazards, attend daily safety meetings, and lead by example in safety practices and procedures
- Assist the project team with subtrade partner management, including managing requests for information, shop drawings, changes and billings, and oversee work by providing day-to-day direction
- Assist with schedules and monitor trade performance
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders
- Support the superintendent, project manager and project coordinator on self-perform scopes and workforce planning, if applicable
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, architecture, trade or a related field
- 2–3 years of progressive experience as field coordinator is preferred
- Ability to understand and apply basic construction principles, specifications, and procedures
- Experience with a broad range of construction specifications, and methods and procedures, including self-perform work, trade partners, work scopes, temporary work, and equipment
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with stakeholders including supervisors and subtrade partners
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology
