Junior Training Specialist at PSD Citywide creating and updating training materials and e-learning resources for local, First Nations, and Regional Governments. Engaging clients and ensuring training content reflects the latest software updates.
Responsibilities
Update and maintain client-facing knowledge base content within HappyFox to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
Create, record, and edit training tutorials, videos, and e-learning modules using tools such as Camtasia and Articulate.
Assist in developing and formatting training materials, including user guides, quick reference guides, and FAQs.
Collaboration and interpersonal skills for participating with Training Specialists and Product teams to ensure training content reflects the latest software updates and best practices.
Conduct quality checks of training content and knowledge base articles for clarity, consistency, and usability.
Support the Training team by preparing content and resources for client-facing sessions and internal training courses.
Assist with internal training documentation and resources as needed.
Stay informed on new tools, technologies, and instructional design best practices to drive innovation and improve training content development.
Demonstrate a client-first mindset by ensuring training resources are easy to understand, visually engaging, and aligned with client needs.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field.
1–3 years of experience in a training support, instructional design, technical writing, or related role.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in web-based applications and content authoring tools.
Experience with Camtasia, Articulate (Storyline/Rise), Talent LMS or similar e-learning platforms.
Demonstrated ability to independently learn, navigate, and become proficient in new software platforms with minimal supervision.
Confident and professional presentation skills, with the ability to effectively facilitate sessions and speak in front of both small and large audiences.
Strong writing and editing skills, with attention to detail and clarity.
Ability to organize and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Creative problem-solving skills and a growth-oriented mindset.
Familiarity with municipal government or enterprise software is an asset.
Certification in instructional design, adult learning, or e-learning development is considered an asset.
Familiarity with software training and development practices and methods including needs assessment, virtual, online and blended training.
Familiarity with different training methods and techniques, both in-person and virtual.
Ability to adapt to different learning styles and effectively engage diverse audiences.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities.
