About the role

  • Payroll & Benefits Specialist managing payroll for Canadian and US employees at Redbrick. Overseeing benefits programs, ensuring compliance, and optimizing payroll systems.

Responsibilities

  • Process and manage bi-weekly and semi-monthly for employees in the USA and Canada.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local payroll regulations.
  • Partner with the rest of the People and Culture through the employee life cycle as it relates to payroll processes (e.g. onboarding documentation, tax election, payroll updates, termination processing, final payouts, and ROE processing).
  • Accurately calculate and record payroll deductions, taxes, and other withholdings.
  • Process pay requests through ADP WFN comprehensive services
  • Reconcile, record and request payment for quarterly fringe benefits, including EHT, multi-provincial WCB, state WCB, taxable benefits.
  • Year End reconciliation and reporting for social taxes and fringe benefits
  • Review and resolve payroll discrepancies and address employee inquiries promptly.
  • Maintain payroll records and reports for auditing and compliance purposes.
  • Administer and manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks, ensuring compliance with regional regulations.
  • Act as the main point of contact for benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations.
  • Coordinate with benefits providers to resolve issues and provide guidance to employees.
  • Monitor and reconcile benefits invoices for accuracy.
  • Coordinate with team for annual open enrollment
  • Year end reporting for US and Canadian benefits
  • Build and nurture relationships with the company’s ADP comprehensive payroll service team.
  • Optimize payroll systems, ensuring data integrity and efficient workflows.
  • Leverage ADP Workforce Now to improve payroll and benefits processes.
  • Generate and analyze payroll and benefits reports to provide actionable insights.
  • Stay updated on labor laws, payroll tax regulations, and benefits compliance in the USA and Canada.
  • Working with ADP comprehensive payroll service team, prepare and submit payroll tax filings, workers compensation processes, compliance reports, and year-end reports (e.g., T4s, W-2s, 1094/5s).

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration
  • 2+ years of ADP Workforce Now expertise with proficiency in using multiple HR and payroll systems
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification, Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent
  • Solid understanding of payroll regulations in Canada (USA is a strong asset)
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with role stakeholders.
