Responsibilities
Payroll processing: Accurately process biweekly payroll for employees in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Manage group benefits and RVER contributions.
Administer payments received for group insurance premiums for employees on leave and calculate, where applicable, indemnities in accordance with CNESST standards.
Ensure appropriate tax withholdings and other deductions.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll laws and regulations.
Prepare and file payroll-related tax returns and year-end tax slips.
Records management: Maintain accurate, up-to-date payroll records and employee information in the payroll system.
Update employee records for changes (salary, benefits, direct deposit).
Perform onboarding and offboarding tasks in the HRIS.
Employee support: Respond to employee questions and concerns regarding payroll, benefits-related withholdings, and taxes.
Resolve payroll discrepancies promptly and professionally.
Collaboration and reporting: Work closely with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate integration of benefits and the production of financial reports.
Systems optimization: Stay current with payroll software and technological advancements to recommend process improvements. Diagnose and resolve payroll system issues as needed.
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of payroll processing experience.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) or CPM (Certified Payroll Manager) designation from the National Payroll Institute.
Experience managing payroll in a multi-provincial environment (an asset).
Fluency in French and English required, as 50% of the role involves payroll processing and communication with employees in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, and Alberta.
Knowledge of payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday, Nethris) and experience with HRIS systems (BambooHR is considered a major asset).
