About the role

  • Water/wastewater construction inspector supporting Peel Region’s treatment facilities and stations. Ensuring compliant construction, documentation, commissioning, payments, and project close-out.

Responsibilities

  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and instructions for complex, multidisciplinary projects
  • Liaise with Project Managers, Consulting Engineers, OCWA, Peel Operations, contractors, and other partners
  • Participate in internal and site meetings on construction quality, scheduling, and site safety
  • Monitor contractor QA/QC processes for compliance with contract requirements and standards
  • Attend Request for Shutdown meetings to verify planning, safety measures, and Lockout/Tagout asset isolation procedures
  • Support commissioning activities and ensure Automation and Data Solutions protocols and documentation requirements are met
  • Track, review, and confirm project deliverables, including field manuals, operations manuals, and as-constructed drawings
  • Maintain daily or weekly site records, progress updates, site photos, and contractor communications
  • Assist with monthly progress payment certificates and final project close-out documentation
  • Ensure construction activities comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Region of Peel safety standards
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff and students

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, preferably with a municipal focus
  • C.Tech designation (OACETT) or higher, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in inspection and/or contract administration within municipal water and wastewater systems
  • Strong knowledge of construction practices, contract specifications, and inspection processes for water/wastewater treatment facilities and stations
  • Experience collaborating with consultants, contractors, and operations teams
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes and plant equipment lifecycle considerations is an asset
  • Ministry of the Environment Water/Wastewater certification is an asset
  • Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s Licence
  • Access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance
  • Satisfactory Level 1 Criminal Record Check obtained directly from a police station
  • Ability to work 35 hours per week
