Responsibilities
Experiment and develop across the entire model development lifecycle
Build, test, and deliver high-quality machine learning and NLP solutions
Collaborate on a cross-functional, interdisciplinary global team
Partner with colleagues across the globe
Try new approaches and learn new technologies
Contribute ideas and solve real-world AI challenges
Support applied research and development of new products and technologies for Thomson Reuters customers
Deliver automation and transformative enhancements for tax and accounting products
Requirements
PhD student/recent graduate, or MSc recent graduate in a discipline relevant to NLP, IR, ML, or Statistics
Practical and relevant experience building NLP, IR, or ML systems from ideation to implementation
Software engineering skills for prototyping
Proficiency implementing solutions using Python, deep learning and agentic frameworks, and relevant tools
Experience using code collaboration and versioning systems such as GitHub
Familiarity with cloud tools such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud
Data-driven problem-solving and decision-making mindset
Ability to communicate complex AI solutions verbally and in writing to audiences with diverse technical backgrounds
Preferred: ability to translate academic research into working prototypes
Preferred: experience experimenting with novel NLP, IR, or ML models
Preferred: familiarity with generative AI, large language models, and agentic, observability, and LLM tracing frameworks
Preferred: self-driven attitude and ability to work with limited supervision
Preferred: ability to collaborate with internal team members and external stakeholders
Preferred: comfort working in fast-paced, agile environments managing uncertainty and ambiguity
Publications at relevant venues such as ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, NeurIPS, ICLR, SIGIR, KDD, or similar venues are a bonus
Preferred internship length is 8 months
