About the role

  • Heavy Duty Mechanic troubleshooting and repairing Sandvik surface mining equipment across Ontario. Commissioning equipment and training customers while maintaining safety and service standards.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and/or electrical aspects of surface mining equipment and components according to defined specifications
  • Commission new equipment and provide training at customer sites
  • Inspect equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Complete accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists
  • Stay current with industry, customers, product developments, and technical best practices
  • Comply with safety policies and applicable regulations
  • Identify and report unsafe work habits, incidents, and near misses
  • Perform risk assessments prior to each task
  • Maintain hand tools, equipment, work areas, and housekeeping standards
  • Attend Environmental, Health and Safety training
  • Wear required personal protective equipment

Requirements

  • Apprentice or Red Seal Mechanic
  • At least 3 years related experience with mining equipment is considered an asset
  • Previous experience with equipment would be an asset
  • Excellent proficiency in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues with mining equipment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to local mine sites and across Canada as required
  • Ability and willingness to work varied shifts as required
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
