Project Manager overseeing budgets, schedules, staff, and contractors for Wood’s global mining and metals engineering projects. Hybrid role based in Saskatoon.
About the role
- Project Manager in mechanical engineering leading complex projects in healthcare, commercial, and residential sectors. Role involves managing design, budget, and client communication for impactful projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects from design through construction and commissioning.
- Develop engineering concepts, review designs, and manage construction budgets.
- Perform site reviews of existing installations, assess impacts, and incorporate findings into design.
- Prepare calculations, equipment selections, and review engineering drawings, specifications, and reports for completeness and accuracy.
- Maintain project schedules and budgets, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.
- Serve as contract administrator when required, including review and preparation of change notices and site instructions.
- Coordinate design and construction efforts across disciplines, ensuring seamless project delivery.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, external consultants, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support account management, including scope changes, request for additional fees, and account receivables.
- Lead internal project team meetings and external client meetings, providing engineering and project status updates.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Project Management for mechanical engineering projects within the building services sector.
- P.Eng. designation or ability to qualify within one year.
- Senior C.E.T. candidates with comparable experience will also be considered.
- Strong knowledge of relevant Codes and Standards (ASHRAE, CSA, NFPA), including provincial building codes.
- Project experience within healthcare (including Infection Control CAN/CSA Z312 and CSA Z32), commercial, residential, or retail settings is highly valued.
- Skilled in engineering design, equipment specification, and multidisciplinary project coordination.
- Strong understanding of construction project procurement methods and contract administration.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities, with a proven record of working with internal staff, external stakeholders, and contractors.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to balance multiple priorities and projects.
- LEED accreditation or experience implementing sustainable design practices is an asset.
