Responsibilities
Lead technical delivery of mine water management components for mining projects across Atlantic Canada
Lead development, calibration, and review of integrated water balance models
Direct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support design, risk assessment, and permitting
Oversee design and evaluation of water management infrastructure including diversions, ponds, conveyance systems, and drainage networks
Lead preparation and review of regulatory submissions and technical documentation
Provide technical leadership for water monitoring programs and interpretation of results
Contribute to mine closure and reclamation strategies with a focus on long-term water management
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate water resources into mine design and environmental assessments
Engage directly with clients and regulators to communicate technical findings and recommendations
Ensure adherence to internal quality processes and high standards of project delivery
Promote a strong health and safety culture, particularly for field programs.
Requirements
Strong expertise in surface water hydrology and mine water management
Demonstrated experience leading development of site-wide water balances and integrated water management strategies
Strong experience with permitting and environmental assessment processes in Atlantic Canada.
Advanced proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, GoldSim, or similar)
Experience leading water quality and quantity monitoring programs and interpreting complex datasets
Strong understanding of hydrotechnical design, including diversion systems, storage ponds, and erosion and sediment control
Ability to critically review technical analyses, identify risks and data gaps, and develop practical, defensible solutions
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions with clients, regulators, and project teams
Proven ability to lead tasks and guide multidisciplinary teams
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, or related discipline) or Environmental Sciences (Hydrology or related field). A Master’s degree is considered an asset
It is considered as asses to be registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) in an Atlantic Canadian province
Typically 8–12 years of progressive experience in water resources, including demonstrated leadership on mining or similar industrial projects
Experience leading technical components of environmental assessments, design studies, operational support, and closure planning.
