About the role

Analytics Engineer building scalable data models and pipelines for Tailscale’s secure networking platform. Supporting reporting, analysis, and decision-making across Finance, Engineering, Sales, and other teams.

Responsibilities

Dive into complex systems and manual workflows to understand tools and constraints
Design and maintain clean, scalable, production-grade dbt models, including ARR and revenue recognition models
Work across the full data pipeline from ingestion through transformation to visualization
Balance quick fixes with thoughtful long-term system design
Collaborate with Finance, Engineering, Sales, Product, Marketing, and other teams to understand data needs and deliver practical solutions

Experience designing and maintaining production-grade data models and pipelines
Deep understanding of modern data modeling principles and best practices
Strong SQL skills and confidence working with complex datasets and schemas
High attention to detail and high standards for data accuracy and validation
Flexibility and resourcefulness with manual tasks and imperfect systems
Passion for clean code, scalable architecture, and reducing complexity
Ability to manage time and prioritize effectively in a fast-moving environment
Clear communication with technical and non-technical collaborators
Willingness to support other domains as the team grows
Nice-to-have: experience at a high-growth PLG SaaS company
Nice-to-have: transforming manual workflows into scalable data pipelines
Nice-to-have: familiarity with billing systems, GAAP accounting, revenue recognition, or audit support
Nice-to-have: exposure to Stripe, Salesforce, or Orb in billing and finance contexts
Nice-to-have: familiarity with financial cycles and month- and quarter-end iteration
Tech stack: Snowflake, dbt, Hightouch, Fivetran, Looker, Stripe, Salesforce, and Orb
