About the role

  • Trainer responsible for delivering Indigenous culture-based training curriculum at Thunderbird Partnership Foundation. Engaging with First Nations communities and delivering culturally relevant training.

Responsibilities

  • responsible for the delivery of Thunderbird’s accredited training curriculum within a fast paced First Nations organization
  • work on a team with others dedicated to work which has real value and meaning in the lives of others
  • apply experience, skills, talents, and passion for the benefit of others while learning from expertise of wellness focused team
  • facilitate articulation and delivery of curriculum and instructional training strategies that are consistent with the mission and vision of Thunderbird Partnership Foundation
  • deliver curriculum complete with materials, tutorials, instructions, and learning resources such as online modules and guides ensuring that training methodology and delivery is compatible with culturally relevant training curriculum
  • implement a variety of adult centred teaching strategies and best practices that help learners remain engaged to support their professional needs
  • identify culturally relevant resources and materials that support instructional practices that facilitate engagement of various learning styles
  • ensure evaluation of training course delivery and tracking for monitoring, reporting, and continuous quality improvement
  • assess instructional effectiveness through course evaluation to determine the impact of training on stakeholder skills
  • design, prepare and source relevant educational aids and materials
  • support development and delivery strategy for dissemination of outputs and knowledge exchange

Requirements

  • bachelor’s or master’s degree in Indigenous Studies/ Public Health/ Social Work or related disciplines
  • two years of related experience
  • fluency in a First Nations language (a definite asset)
  • knowledge of various methods of teaching and instruction
  • hands-on experience managing multiple training/education events and environments
  • the ability to manage a diverse workload and tight timeframes
  • knowledge of protocols and ethical practices related to working with First Nations
  • cultural competence and the ability to interact effectively within First Nation communities/societies
  • the ability to travel regularly
  • knowledge of First Nations traditions and customs including natural healing (a definite asset)
  • strong interpersonal and relationship building skills including conflict resolution abilities
  • excellent communication skills (writing, presentation, public speaking)
  • creative problem-solving skills
  • knowledge of learning management systems and web/digital delivery tools
  • a genuine enthusiasm for lifelong learning
  • MS Office proficiency
  • the ability to function autonomously and to be flexible/adaptable to change
  • the capacity to effectively maintain confidentiality
  • the means to attend work locations not accessible by public transportation.
