About the role

  • Senior Project Manager overseeing major energy and carbon-reduction programs for City facilities. Leading a team to deliver the Energy Transition Plan aligned with sustainability objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor Project Managers, engineers, and consultants delivering energy and carbon-related capital projects
  • Oversee project portfolios, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities and corporate sustainability goals
  • Lead the implementation of the Energy Transition Plan, coordinating energy retrofit, fuel-switching, and renewable energy initiatives
  • Prepare high-level reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior leadership and committees on program performance
  • Manage program budgets and capital forecasts; assess project risks and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with divisions and external partnerships to coordinate project priorities and approvals
  • Provide guidance on low-carbon technologies and energy modeling standards

Requirements

  • Must have post-secondary education in engineering, building science, or energy management
  • Extensive experience managing large-scale energy efficiency and carbon-reduction projects ($1M–$20M)
  • Extensive experience in energy modeling and analysis tools (e.g., RETScreen, EnergyPlus, IES VE)
  • Considerable knowledge of relevant legislation, codes, and standards (OBC, ASHRAE, TSSA, OHSA, AODA, ISO 50001)
  • Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, Word, and project management systems
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills with experience briefing senior leadership and elected officials.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario; PMP, CEM, CMVP, or LEED AP certifications are strong assets.
