About the role

  • Quality Assurance Audit Supervisor auditing and improving food safety systems for Ventura Foods, which manufactures food solutions for foodservice and retail businesses. Leading plant compliance, CAPA, GMP, and regulatory audits.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct audits to ensure plant compliance with Corporate Quality Policies
  • Standardize SOPs so Corporate Policies are properly translated at the plant level
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager and Corporate QA team to support effectiveness, consistency, and continuous improvement of Quality and Food Safety programs
  • Audit facility compliance with Corporate Quality Management System policies, plant-specific SOPs and OPLs, food safety programs, and regulatory agency standards
  • Schedule, prepare, and lead audits, including developing cross-functional teams
  • Prepare and issue non-conformance reports and monitor RCA and CAPA activities
  • Maintain plant QMS systems and conduct regular plant audits
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in Food Safety programs
  • Respond to customer and supplier non-conformances in collaboration with customer service, sales, and production
  • Evaluate and follow up on corrective actions resulting from audits
  • Conduct monthly GMP audits
  • Maintain company and facility policies, procedures, and food safety and quality programs
  • Manage compliance with key customer specifications, applicable laws, and regulations
  • Manage and support second-party and third-party audits
  • Assure compliance with company Safety and HR policies, procedures, and applicable food regulations

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education i.e. diploma or degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related scientific discipline
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of food safety auditing or manufacturing plant experience including leadership position
  • Auditing, RCA and CAPA experience required
  • PCQI, SQF, or HACCP Certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of manufacturing plant processes and quality management systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective crisis management and problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to lead and drive cross-functional teams
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Ability to champion and lead a strong Food Safety culture
  • Ability to perform required physical tasks, including intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds or more with assistance may be required
  • Willingness and ability to wear personal protective equipment as required
  • Willingness to work typical shifts of 8-12 hours per day, with additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends as required
  • May be required to work outside or in adverse temperatures, and be exposed to vibrations, chemicals, fumes, food allergens, confined or dark spaces, and heights exceeding 18 feet
