About the role

  • Scrum Master guiding cross-functional squads and AI-enabled delivery for the Government of Alberta’s citizen-facing digital services. Facilitating Scrum, coaching Product Owners, and automating workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Guide cross-functional squads across two or more concurrent digital modernization initiatives
  • Plan, facilitate, and optimize Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews/Demos, and Retrospectives
  • Identify and eliminate impediments, dependencies, and external friction points
  • Coach Government of Alberta Product Owners on roadmap maintenance, user story elaboration, release planning, value-based backlog prioritization, and relative estimation
  • Deploy generative AI and agentic tools for drafting requirements, synthesizing research and retrospective notes, structuring sprint metrics, and automating status summaries
  • Apply prompt design and validate AI outputs for privacy, security, and hallucination risks
  • Design and implement team intake forms, automated status dashboards, CI/CD integration checkpoints, and workflow automations
  • Maintain sprint burndown, velocity trends, cumulative flow diagrams, and capacity models in Azure DevOps/Jira
  • Partner with UX/UI designers, user researchers, and service design teams during discovery sprints, usability testing, and field research sessions

Requirements

  • Active Certified Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I/II, or equivalent globally recognized credential)
  • Minimum 3 years leading and facilitating full-cycle Scrum events
  • Minimum 3 years embedded directly in agile software development environments
  • Minimum 2 years coaching teams, Product Owners, and stakeholders in agile practices, estimation, and self-organization
  • Ability to pass a Government of Alberta Enhanced Background Check, including fingerprint criminal record check and credit check
  • Must reside and work within Canada
  • Modern Windows (preferred) or macOS machine fully compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
