About the role

  • Tracking Specialist managing GTM, GA4, pixels, and conversion APIs for an education and nonprofit marketing agency. Ensuring accurate, privacy-compliant measurement across client campaigns.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain pixels, tags, and scripts in Google Tag Manager
  • Build and maintain data layers with the Web Services team
  • Manage GTM container structures, triggers, and variables across multiple clients
  • Implement server-side tagging where it improves measurement accuracy
  • Connect website activity to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Snapchat
  • Configure standard and custom conversion events and maintain GA4 event tracking
  • Partner with Paid Media and Web Services teams on campaign and landing-page launches
  • Audit and debug broken tags, dropped events, and data discrepancies
  • Troubleshoot mismatches between ad platforms, GA4, and CRM systems
  • Run routine tag health audits and verify events before campaign launches
  • Manage cookie consent banners and consent mode configuration
  • Keep tracking aligned with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations
  • Monitor platform and browser changes affecting tracking durability
  • Maintain tagging plans, naming conventions, and QA checklists
  • Translate business requirements into functional tracking solutions
  • Document technical setups for internal teams

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on tracking or web analytics experience in a marketing or agency environment
  • Intermediate experience with GTM containers, trigger and variable creation, data layer implementation, and server-side tagging
  • Practical experience planning, deploying, and troubleshooting conversion tracking across major ad platforms
  • Working knowledge of pixel and Conversion API (CAPI) configuration for Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, and LinkedIn
  • Hands-on GA4 experience, including event configuration, key events, and DebugView
  • Comfort with HTML, CSS selectors, and basic JavaScript
  • Skilled use of GTM Preview mode and browser developer tools
  • Understanding of GDPR, CCPA, and consent management platforms
  • Strong communication skills for explaining technical tracking concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Education marketing experience is especially valued
  • Interest in or familiarity with AI/LLM tools for tracking audits, data-layer validation, server-side tagging, conversion modeling, or technical documentation is a bonus
