About the role

  • Principal Product Marketing Manager shaping GitLab’s competitive position in AI and agentic software development. Driving market analysis, thought leadership, sales plays, and executive strategy for GitLab’s DevSecOps platform.

Responsibilities

  • Own GitLab's competitive positioning for AI and agentic software development end to end
  • Conduct primary landscape analysis and assess competitive tools and developer-level perceptions
  • Convert competitive signals into positions and actions within days
  • Advise Product on roadmap sequencing based on competitive movement, evidence, and recommendations
  • Build competitive assets, plays, objection handling, and sales motions against named competitors
  • Measure the impact of competitive sales motions on win rates
  • Partner with Growth and Campaigns on competitor displacement campaigns and pipeline contribution
  • Brief Investor Relations, industry analysts, sales, and executive leadership on the competitive landscape
  • Define GitLab's differentiated position against AI-native entrants competing for the SDLC
  • Publish thought leadership on agentic development
  • Assess new entrants and share market-shaping insights across the company
  • Shape partnership strategy based on competitive footing
  • Arm executives with competitive narratives for customer and board conversations
  • Raise the competitive bar across the Product Marketing Manager team
  • Report to the Senior Director, Product & Solutions Marketing

Requirements

  • Proven impact at the organizational and industry level
  • Deep domain expertise in SDLC, DevSecOps, and agentic software development
  • Track record of driving competitive positioning with measurable win-rate impact
  • Fluency in the AI/agentic coding landscape and competitor exposure areas
  • Established thought leadership with industry recognition, including speaking, publications, or advisory roles
  • Experience briefing executives, investor relations, and industry analysts
  • Ability to form and articulate a clear point of view quickly despite incomplete information
  • Strong communication skills to translate complex technical concepts into clear narratives
  • Practical experience using AI tools within your workflow
  • Self-directed, data-driven mindset using win/loss insights to guide strategy
  • Ability to travel if needed and comply with the company's travel policy
